Hawkins Cellars Underwood Mountain Pinot Noir 2021

Using grapes grown on Underwood Mountain, this Pinot Noir opens with aromas of Bing Cherry and crushed rose petals, and flavors of raspberry and baking spices is classic Pinot Noir.  Ample acidity plus supple but maturing tannins make this a food lover’s wine that can be drunk now or cellared for six to eight years.

This wine marks the transition of Hawkins’ focus from Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley to our new home in the Columbia Gorge on Underwood Mountain.  It packs a punch that is heavier than similar wines from the Willamette Valley, yet remains distinctly Columbia Gorge. A southern exposure, high elevation, steady breeze give this wine nuance and body that pairs well with lighter meats and heavy pastas.
