The Territory

Soave Classico is the hilly area where vineyards were planted during Roman times. It is uniquely suited for developing white wine with its volcanic soil: pure basaltic lava, the only area with these particular characteristics in Italy. The area was originally planted with the ancient “Graecanicum” (coming from Greece) variety. This name was then transformed into “Garganega” in the local dialect. During the ‘60s Giuseppe Inama, the estate’s founder, began purchasing small plots of vineyards in the heart of the Soave Classico. His idea was to assemble only top quality vineyards of old-vine Garganega, and fashion from them a wine capable of restoring Soave’s reputation. Today this property sits on 30 hectares.

IMPRESSIONS

It opens fresh, mineral, deep, with fragrant field flower notes (camomile, elderflower, iris). On the palate is rich, complex and multidimensional with a finish of almond. With time, these notes transform into more complex notes of pollens, dried flowers.

THE WINE

Vigneti di Foscarino is our interpretation of the Soave Classico that looks back to ancient times. It recalls ancestral traditions in order to express forgotten aromas. Selection from old vines, more than 40 years old. Vineyards are in the Monte Foscarino: Basaltic-volcanic soil and southeast exposure of the vines.

CHARACTERISTICS

100% Garganega: this variety was introduced in the Classic area 2,000 years ago by the Romans. Fermentation takes place in used barriques. Prior to racking, batonnage is carried out every 6 weeks for about 6 months. Fining for 6 months in stainless steel vats. Great ageing potential until 10-15 years.

COMBINATIONS

IT MATCHES WELL WITH VITELLO TONNATO (VEAL WITH TUNA SAUCE), RISOTTO WITH FISH , SUSHI.  WITH LOCAL TRADITION DISHES: BACCALÀ ALLA VICENTINA WITH POLENTA, FISH SOUPS WITH VEGETABLES: VELVET PUMPKIN SOUP, VELVET PEAS SOUP, RISOTTO AI BRUSCANDOLI (SPROUT HOPS) AND MONTE VERONESE CHEESE, COUS COUS WITH VEGETABLES.

LABEL

The label depicts two heads inspired by those initially drawn by the English architect Inigo Jones (1573 – 1652), one of the first Englishmen to study architecture in Italy under Andrea Palladio in Vicenza for many years. This is another “concept” label that has taken on such importance it has become the company logo: the expression of two faces, which originally referred to love, represent the two faces of wine, the sacred and meditative one on the right and the more profane, and inebriated one on the left. Wine, perfect representation of the mankind’s essence, according to the conditions, can be sacred or Bacchanalesque.
