Duck Pond Willamette Valley Delaney Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017
The Great Oregon Wine Company 2017 Delaney Vineyard Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)
91 pts – Wine Enthusiast
Some single-vineyard cuvées (this included) that were formerly bottled under the Duck Pond label have been transferred to this new label following the acquisition of Duck Pond by the Integrated Beverage Group. Delaney remains a first-class site, with vines over a quarter century old. Bright and spicy, this tightly wound Pinot mixes wild raspberry and pie cherry fruit with a lightly chocolaty note from aging in 55% new oak. Almost a third of the ferment was done with whole clusters. Paul Gregutt
Wine Tasting Notes
Dark and brooding, mysterious and multi-layered; you have to dig deep to see all the nuances this wine has to offer – experiencing it over an hour or two. Notes of candied cherry and vanilla permeate the nose, with ripe black cherries, caramel and subtle spice on the palate. A full complement of tannin and great acidity help shape this wine which is drinking well now and will continue into the next 5 years.
