Alois Vigneti Delle Dolomiti Chardonnay Gaun 2021

92 pts – Wine Enthusiast

This 100% Chardonnay from the mountains of Alto Adige leaps out of the glass with aromas of fresh Fuji apple, wet rock and apple blossom. This wine is beautifully layered and textured with notes of cream and lemon curd. Vibrant acidity keeps the wine in check and will allow it to age. Drink now–2030. — Jeff Porter

92 pts – Wine Spectator

An idiosyncratic Chardonnay, engaging for its differences, including a delicate overtone of exotic spices and dried herbs and a macerated quality to the expressive blood orange and strawberry fruit flavors, with hints of grated ginger, sea salt and honeycomb. Reveals racy acidity that keeps this light on its feet throughout, with a long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2028.

GAUN CHARDONNAY

The name takes us back to the 17th century and the family of the Barons Gaun, the first owners of the Löwengang estate. In 1934, when Alois III saw the excellent results produced by the Chardonnay grape variety in the dolomitic limestone soil on the Magrè talus cone, he decided to purchase Löwengang. 150 years ago, Chardonnay and other international grape varieties were planted there, such as Cabernet, Carmenère and Riesling.
