Famiglia Bianchi Malbec 2017
A deep red color, with vivid purple highlights, Valentin Bianchi’s Famiglia Bianchi Malbec has luscious fruit aromas, with hints of ripe plums and cherries, combined with subtle spicy touches.
Aromas of chocolate, roasted coffee, mocha cream and vanilla are also present. The strong fruit flavors come through on the palate, with an intense, persistent and round mouthfeel, showing sweet
and ripe tannins and good structure, with the fruit carrying through to the long, lasting finish.
This 2015 Malbec comes from two vineyards – the Doña Elsa Estate, situated in Ram Caída, San Rafael, Mendoza at 2460 feet above sea level, and Finca Constanza Stradella Bianchi, located in the
Cuoto Benegas District, both in San Rafael province. Rama Caída is among the coolest areas of San Rafael, with sandy calcareous soil of alluvial origins. The grapes were hand-picked and
classically fermented, with periodic pump-over and three weeks’ maturation on skins. Fermentation was completed at controlled temperatures not exceeding 82° F. The wine then spent
twelve months in new oak – 80% French and 20 percent American. After bottling, the wine was aged an additional five months.
This wine is ideal to serve with a large variety of foods, especially with meat and hard cheeses.
