Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018

93pts – James Suckling

A complex nose of fresh berries, olives, herbs and spices. Balanced, velvety palate with nice harmony and elegant tannins. Long, savory finish. Delicious. Drink or hold.James Suckling –, January 27, 2021

91pts – Wine Spectator

Ripe and fresh, with a lovely beam of cassis and cherry puree flavors streaming along, flanked by subtle bergamot, floral and anise notes. There’s a chocolaty hint on the finish, but the overall impression is pure. Best from 2021 through 2029.J.M. – Wine Spectator, November 15, 2020

91pts – Wine Enthusiast

“Editors’ Choice” This is an impressive red that overdelivers on its price point, providing a graceful experience of powerful concentration. Black fruit, iron, crushed rock and cedar define its yin-yang of Old World sensibility with New World intensity. Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast, July 2021

Tasting Notes

Our 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon delivers mouth filling, deeply intense blackberry fruit across the palate with clove and cardamom spice complexity and dusty tannins that add structure to the juicy fullness of the fruit.

Vineyard Notes

Fruit for our Napa Valley Cabernet includes two of the valley’s most renowned sub-appellations: Oakville, located on a well-drained alluvial bench, and Stag’s Leap district, coming from our Wappo Hill Vineyard. The varying meso-climates and soils of these vineyard sites elicit a wonderfully concentrated, expressive, and classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and are combined with fruit from a number of the area’s finest vineyards for the perfect expression of the region.

87% Cabernet Sauvignon
5% Merlot
4% Petit Verdot
3% Cabernet Franc
1% Malbec

Winemaker Notes

A beautiful nose redolent of fresh, ripe blackberry and black plum jam, gently framed by notes of dried thyme and toast.
