Torii Mor “Deux Verres” Reserve Pinot Noir 2016
2016 “Deux Verres” Reserve Pinot Noir
Nine vineyards are represented in the Deux Verres Pinot noir: Alloro, Bella Vida, Hoy, Kolb, La Colina, La Dolce Vita, Olson Estate, Varga, and Winkler Vineyards.
Early bud-break in late March following a very wet winter. Fruit was harvested between September 7 and 23. June and July were cool followed by a very warm August and September. Early May heat prevented full pollination of many clusters, resulting in lower vineyard yields overall.
Fruit is hand sorted and fermented without whole clusters for 13-17 days in 1.5 ton open fermenters. Seventeen total months barrel aging in French oak: 15% new, 11% year old, the rest neutral.
Total Acidity: 5.4 g/l
Residual sugar: <.2 g/100 ml
Deux Verres is the winemaker’s barrel selection blend. Every year the best barrels of the vintage create this blend. Aromas are sweet with concentrated red and dark cherries. Texture is elegant and soft. Finish is long with fruity layers of black cherries and light earthy notes.
